Child Killed, Adult Injured in SC Dog Attack
A dog attack can happen at any time. A dog may get loose and roam the neighborhood looking for people or prey. This can lead to dangerous and even fatal attacks.
Tragically, a child was killed in a recent attack by a dog in Anderson. The fatal incident happened on the afternoon of May 13.
Deputies responded to a home on Wilson Street after receiving reports of the attack. The dog attacked a 5-month-old child and an adult before fleeing the area. Emergency crews treated the victims at the local hospital, and the infant was later flown to Greenville with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, officials said the child died the following day from multiple traumatic injuries.
The adult victim suffered serious injuries but was later released after receiving medical treatment. Deputies and animal control officers searched the surrounding neighborhood and eventually located the dog. The animal was taken into custody by Anderson County PAWS.
No further details were released. It is unknown how the dog attack occurred. The investigation remains ongoing.
