2 Killed, 2 Injured in Bamberg County Crash
Intersection crashes can be deadly, especially if there are high speeds involved and one or both drivers fail to follow traffic signs and signals.
Sadly, this was recently the case in South Carolina. Two people were killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in Bamberg County.
The collision happened just before midnight on July 25 at the intersection of S.C. 61 and Farrells Road. Investigators discovered that a southbound Jeep Wrangler and a westbound Chevrolet Silverado had collided in the intersection. The impact sent both vehicles off opposite sides of the roadway, where they overturned.
Tragically, a passenger in the Jeep and the driver of the Chevrolet died from their injuries. Their identities have not yet been released by the Bamberg County Coroner’s Office.
The Jeep’s driver was airlifted to a hospital in Charleston for treatment, while a passenger in the Chevrolet suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Officials have not released information about what factors may have contributed to the crash. Additional details about the investigation have not been made available.
According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, at least 464 people had died in traffic crashes across the state so far in 2026. In 2025, there were at least 914 traffic fatalities statewide.
